This oil on canvas painting (created by Joseph Wright), in 1782 - 1784 is of the Paul Mellon Collection at the National Gallary of Art and is titled "The Corinthian Maid". According to the pioneer of pottery manufacturing, John Wedgewood, the mythological view of this picture is a scene that illustrates the invention of the art of modelling basis basrelief sculpture. The female in the picture is tracing (making an outline of the male's body) her lover's sillouette on the wall for a keepsake, as he sleeps.
This oil on canvas painting titled "The Houses of Parliament, Sunset", was painted by Claude Monet, in 1903 is of the Chester Dale Collection. Trenched in massive amounts of fog, the view of this picture is a darkened silhouette of some of London, England's famous landmarks in the late 1890s.
